What exactly is the state of podcast interviews right now? In a word: positive. Many podcasts interview guests, a lot of niche podcasts exist and the growth of new shows continues today. The ecosystem and culture surrounding podcasts is one of collaboration, growth and excitement. When we launched the State of Podcast Interviews survey, one of the early questions we wanted to make sure we asked was whether podcast hosts had been podcast guests. Empathy is a powerful thing, and if hosts have been guests, they know what it’s like to be “on that side of the mic.” What we found wasn’t a shock, but it was a bit surprising as to the magnitude. Setting the right expectations for podcast interviews is in a major factor in success. As a guest, you have to know what you’re going into, what to expect from the experience and how to measure it. Measuring is important because you’re investing time, talents and treasure into this strategy of podcast interview marketing. Even if you’re not working with an agency like Interview Valet or a publicist, you’re booking yourself and investing time into it. Podcasts also topped the list for marketing plans over the next year, beating out video and blogging. These results and more came from the first ever State of Podcast Interviews report.
